Considered
world’s one of bizarre Festival ‘Feats of Strength’ events. Each May,
thousands of people will gather around Cooper’s Hill in the south west of England
known as Gloucestershire. The hill itself isn’t what brings tourists from
around the world, rather the athletes who attempt to conquer it.
Start from the top of the hill, a 9 pounds (4.1
kilograms) round of Double Gloucester cheese is sent rolling down the hill, and
competitors then start racing down the hill after it. competitors are aiming to
catch the cheese; however, it has around a one-second head start, and can reach
speeds up to 70 miles per hour (110 kilometres per hour), enough to knock over
and injure a spectator.
It is an
annual event that held on Cooper’s Hill near Gloucester in England .Traditionally
People from local villages takes part in
this festival, now people from all over the world taking part.
Cheese Roller:-
How does it work:-
From top of
the hill, the master of Ceremonies release a nine-pound wheel of Double
Gloucester cheese which speeds of over 70 miles an hour. The first runner to
get to the bottom of the hill wins the contest and a whole lot of cheese,
literally. Unfortunately, the Cooper’s Hill Cheese Rolling event is by no means
a safe competition. If you are crazy enough to compete, make sure you don’t
bruise or cry easily.
Dozens
are injured people every year as contestants attempting to make it down the
hill are often hospitalized.
